The Silver Spangle Cockatiel

The Silver Spangle cockatiel is an autosomal recessive mutation that combines a colour (silver) and a pattern (spangle) change all in the one mutation. Their eyes are a dark brown, feet and toenails are dark grey like the wild grey cockatiels. Many breeders find Silver Spangle hens extremely hard to breed and to my knowledge no one in Australia has been able to breed from a Silver Spangle hen.

A good Silver Spangle should be light in colour with silvery grey spangles all over. You should try to breed the Silver Spangles from these light birds to hopefully breed out the more darker Spangles. The Whiteface Silver Spangle is an extremely stunning bird and hopefully in years to come we will see more of these beutiful birds.
