The Whiteface Cockatiel

Whiteface is an autosomal recessive mutation that removes all yellow and orange colours from the bird and replaces them with white. Whiteface chicks can be identified as soon as they hatch as they have white down, where every other cockatiel mutation and the normal grey have yellow down.

Some of the most startling cockatiels would have to be the Whiteface cock who has a brilliant white face and white wing bars on a dark grey body. The black and white Whiteface Pied and Whiteface Pearl Pieds are also a stunning bird.

The Whiteface mutation can also be combined with Lutino to form an Albino looking cockatiel. For more information on Whiteface Lutino, have a look at my Albino section.
